ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS TO OUR NJ HIGHLANDS REGION AND WHY WE NEED PROTECTION

On July 15, 1:30 PM, at the Sparta United Methodist Church, 71 South Sparta Avenue, Sparta, NJ, LWVSH will present: ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS TO OUR NEW JERSEY HIGHLANDS REGION AND WHY WE NEED PROTECTION.

A distinguished group of environmental advocates will explore the current threats to the New Jersey Highlands’ water and forests:

Join Julia Somers, Executive Director of the New Jersey Highlands Coalition (njhighlandscoalition.org), who will be outlining the importance of maintaining the purity of our highlands water supply and why protecting the highlands aquifer benefits 70% of all New Jersey residents.

Junior Romero will speak on behalf of NJ Food and Water Watch (foodandwaterwatch.org). Mr. Romero will be presenting the significance of multiple pipelines and the increasing threat they present to New Jersey residents.

Silvia Solaun of New Jersey Forest Watch (facebook.com/FriendsOfSpartaMountain) is an advocate for our diverse NJ forests. Ms. Solaun will be exposing the multiple threats to our old growth forests, endangered species, and unique vernal pools as well as how to protect our precious natural resources.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions after the presentation.
